How to Reach More Customers to Expand Your Craft Business

You now know when to expand your craft business, but you might not know how to reach more customers when you’re ready to grow your consumer base. Customers may have been coming to you organically, but eventually you’re going to need to find new ways to reach them. Thankfully technology makes it a bit easier to reach customers, but you’ll need to figure out with direction to go by studying your target market to understand what platforms they use the most and what entices them to make purchases. 

Watch The Trends

When you’re wanting to bring more customers to your craft business, focus on what is trending at the moment. Chances are that if it’s trending then there is a big market to reach. You may be able to tell what’s trending just by looking at your Facebook feed, but there are a few other tools that make it easy to see what customers want. Buzzfeed, Google Trends, Reddit and YouTube are all great places to start. 

After you figure out what is trending, then you need to ask yourself how you can incorporate the trends into your business so that they fit your brand. Don’t try to mold your business to fit the trends. Find a way to cater to your target market so that you can make it work with your business model. 

Facebook Groups

There are so many Facebook groups out there, and many of them have a wealth of information. Many Facebook groups allow you to share your business with others. Read the Facebook group rules before sharing your business, but find groups that have your target market in their members so you reach more customers. 

You can also create your own Facebook group to attract more customers. A lot of businesses actually have a Facebook page and a separate group where they post special coupons and giveaways to their loyal customers. Creating your own Facebook group is a great way to stay connected to your customers and it doesn’t cost anything other than time. 

Create Videos

If you can find a way to make videos work in favor of your craft business, it’s a clever way to reach more customers. A lot of people prefer to watch short video clips, Instagram stories and reels. You could create a trending video, make one that showcases your products or even offer more inside information about your products and how they are made. 

You don’t have to make extremely long videos, and you don’t need a lot of video editing experience to get started. YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram are all great places to upload your video content. It’s also smart to share your videos on other platforms and your own website so that customers can find them easier. 

Email Subscriptions

If you’ve set up a way for customers to buy products through your own website, you can easily create a way for them to sign up to an email subscription at check out. If you don’t have a way to do this through a website, there are lots of email subscription services you can use where your customers can sign up to receive more information about your business. These services include Mailchimp, Constant Contact and HubSpot

You don’t have to send emails very frequently to be successful at getting customers to come purchase from your shop. Provide coupon codes, discounts, giveaways and exclusive access to products to your email subscribers as a way to bring in more business. You can even share your subscription sign up on other platforms to attract current and new customers.

These are just a handful of ways that you can bring in more customers when you are ready to expand your crafting business. Pick one that you are the most comfortable with and start there. Don’t try to expand too quickly, but once you master one avenue then you can branch out to another one
